How to transfer a laptop data base to another laptop in order to fix it?

Its a Mac book pro laptop 15", something is causing it to turn off…In order to see the problem. I need to open the data base that is in Mac book pro inside other computer to repair it. I used an USB cable but the computer said that the device did not install. How does this work? And is this possible or does it need an repair technician?

Macs will not boot or get access from the usb ports .
and to to get at the drive from another computer it would have to be an other mac and ether a net boot or a firewire boot . there are help forums for all of these procedures go here and look through the howto’s or join and ask them for help
