Help… Teen weight loss?

Posted: February 5th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | 3 Comments »

I’m 5’0-ish, 15, and I think I weigh about 114. A few weeks go I weighed like 111, and even though I consume 500 calories less than I burn, I STILL don’t lose weight. I even GAIN weight. And my mom refuses to let me get a thyroid test, because she says Its unlikely I have it because I’m so young. She has hypothyroidism, and im not sure if it’s genetic or not. But I measured my BMi and it’s says mine is 21.2, which is healthy, yet u feel SOO fat. Like anytime I look in a mirror I almost burst out crying because I’m so self conscious. Will someone tell me precisely what to do to lose weight? In case I’m not doing it?

Weight loss is a combination of good nutrition, calorie reduction, and exercising.

Reducing your caloric intake by 3500 calories = 1 pound weight loss

    Formula for Success

    1. Small Frequent Meals
Don’t skip meals or go more than four hours without eating this set you up for later temptation. When meals are more than six hours apart, plan strategic snacks.

    2. Eat Moderate Portions
Eat a little less of everything!

    3. Beware of Concentrated Sugars
Excess sugar eaten alone causes more insulin secretion. Insulin promotes fat storage and can result in a rebound drop in blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar, in return, stimulates the appetite, especially cravings for more sugar.

    4. Eat Foods High in Fiber
Fiber fills you up and helps stabilize blood sugar levels. There are two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. We need both of them in our diet!

    5. Lower Your Fat Intake
Limit foods that are high in fat.

6 . Consume Caffeine in Moderation, If at All
Caffeine, like alcohol, may be contained in beverages considered to be food but the effects of this chemical are definitely drug-like.

    7. Exercise at least 3 times a week. Walk, walk, walk!!! Drink Plenty of water.

Pay attention to your body mass index and height and weight chart. Use the calculator from the websites below.

Are you active or playing sports because that could be why your gaining weight.
Muscles weigh more than body fat so it tends to add a few extra pounds.

Your weight seems perfect. If anything you sound much more petite than large. Its your self esteem and mind that needs some ease. Don’t torture yourself for no reason. Think positive and maybe go to the gym or jog more often not to lose weight but to save your mind from running wild.
