teen weight loss? 20 pounds?

Posted: January 31st, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | 4 Comments »

im 15 years old, 5’3", and 157 pounds. in february im going on vacation with my cousin (same age, same height, and 115 pounds). i will never look exactly like her, but i cant help but compare myself to her ALOT.
even the fact that im going on vacation doesnt get me down to the gym. because i cant eat healthy 100% of the time. i eat a healthy breakfast and lunch most of hte time. and my mom cooks decent dinners. but its usually an afternoon snack that kills me.
how can i lose this weight? i dont expect to look like anything magnificent for florida with only 2 months to lose weight, but how can i lose 15-20 pounds at least?
unfortunately. i know im supposed to love who i am, but i cant. theres nothing to love about a fat girl

First off, stop putting yourself down so much. Trust me, I’ve been where you are. Putting yourself down actually makes the situation worse and makes you think that you can’t fix yourself when you can. So please don’t stop loving yourself. I’m sure you’re beautiful. The first step to losing weight is suprisingly to tell yourself "I know I’m going to lose the weight." Positive attitude is key.

I understand that eating healthy is not always an option. Because let’s face it: it’s not possible to eat healthy everywhere you go. But there are always ways to watch what you eat. One thing that I can personally vouch for is to cut out soda and any other fizzy drinks and replace them with water. You may have heard this before, but I’m serious. There is so much sugar and chemicals in drinks like that and they don’t do your body justice. Water is a great way to flush out your body and it keeps you hydrated. Sometimes, thirst is even mistaken for hunger. So sometimes you’ll find yourself eating when in fact you’re just thirsty. So when you’re hungry, have some water. Don’t underestimate the H20!

In terms of actual food, watch your portions. For example, back in my intense eating days, I used to have two sandwitches for lunch, a whole bagel for snack and chips. Bad, Bad, Bad. So what I did to fix that was I had only one sandwitch for lunch. When I wanted a bagel, I only had half. I also replaced junk food with some fruit. So observe what you are eating everyday and think throughout the day: Is this healthy to snack on? Am I feeding myself too much? Can I cut something out? Can I replace something for a healthier, lower calorie option? You’ll see the difference. Eating four small meals with only two small snacks is also ideal. So don’t fall victim to all of those fancy diets out there. Just change the foods you’re eating and how much of it you’re eating.

Let’s face it. Exercise is important. It sounds like you don’t like going the gym, but you need to get more active somehow. Start walking more. I know I walk to and from the train station near my house everyday when I go to school. I take the 4 flights of stairs to get to class as opposed to taking the elevator. Be active when at all possible. Ride your bike on the weekends. Dance around your room for a while. Get into a sport. Anything that’ll increase your daily activity from what it is right now. The actual way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in. So you have to figure out a way to burn all of the calories you eat and you can only do that by getting active.

One other small thing I found that helped me was Green Tea. I had one cup before breakfast and one before bed. It acually makes you less hungry. So drinking Green Tea before breakfast will lessen your appetite so you won’t eat as much. It also speeds up metabolism which will make it easier to shed pounds.

Don’t compare yourself to your friends. I used to do that so much and it didn’t help me at all. It’ll make it hard for you to feel good about yourself. And it’s important to feel good about yourself. So take it slow, change your lifestyle, and you’ll see results. I can’t tell you how much weight you’ll loe in 2 months (everyone is different) but it sounds like you don’t want a quick fix. To keep the weight ff for good, you have to go through a gadual process.

Remember, you can do this. Anyone can. Good Luck.

Awwww, don’t think of yourself as being fat. Have your tried running? Any kind of exercise will actually work. Just try not to think negatively if you don’t lose the weight like those tv commercials say you would. I don’t really know how to lose weight because I am trying not to lose weight so I don’t know what has worked for people.

hey im there with ya im fat too
(i hate when people say overweight to sound nice)
im actualy the same height and 144 (i started at 156)
im trying to lose weight too
i usually exercise for 3 hours total and its been working for me
my exercises consist of: jogging, walking, DANCING, jump roping, and sit ups
i think the most effective one is dancing becuz its fun and it burns a lot of calories
as for your diet dont eat the same calories everyday (and i forgot-dont do teh same exercises everyday) becuz your body will get used to the same thing everyday and wont burn as much calories
so you can eat 1200 tomorrow then 1500 the day after that then 1300
just dont go over 1500 calories (dont forget to switch up the exercises)

good luck and dont compare yourself to your cousin for now becuz it will make you think negatively

    have fun on your vacation!

First of all, u shouldnt compare urself to other people, including family. Trust me, someone out there actually likes you so dont be such a debbie downer. Secondly, its not that hard to lose weight. I lost 10 lbs in a couple months without even changing my diet or counting calories. All i did was replace all juice/soda i drink with water (except everyone once in a while i would cheat and drink soda, but rarely) and stop eating late at night. If u feel hungry during the evening after dinner, just eat a really small snack like perhaps a yogurt or a cookie. Most of the time u think ur hungry when in reality, ur body is just thirsty so just drink a lot of water during the day. On top of all this, u MUST exercise. Whether its by playing the Wii Fit or running at LEAST 3 days a week or playing ur favorite sport. U cannot just sit there and expect the weight to just fall off. Whenever i work out and i feel the burn or pain, i tell myself that pain is just weakness leaving the body, to motivate me. Also, every morning u should weigh urself (not during the day) because ur weight fluctuates between 3-5lbs throughout the day. Now if ur braver than me, try eating a healthy diet and i guarantee you that u will lose at least 15 pounds before February. Good luck and i hope i’ve helped.
