How can I temporarily cut my cellphone service without ending a contract?

im getting a cellphone this year, but the thing is, my family and i are goign on vacation for a month or so to our country.
so i am getting the phone in march or april. – but in the summer, will i still have to pay for that month that i didnt use anything? i dont want to take it with me either.

    You will probably still have to pay for that month; however, you might not have to pay as much as you usually do. If you have some extra packages on your plan (texting, a lot of minutes, etc) you can call before you go on vacation and have them take those packages off your plan. (Just make sure they don’t charge a fee to remove the packages). Go down to the basic number of minutes available. Then, when you come back from vacation, tell them you want your old packages back. That way you will only have to pay the very minimum for that month.

    Contact the cellphone company to see if this is possible. You may also be able to get a phone with international coverage.

    The other alternative would be to see if you can delay activating the contract or getting the phone until after you return.
