How can you network a laptop to a printer wirelessly?

Posted: September 3rd, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: laptops | Tags: , , , , | 1 Comment »

I have an HP Pavilion Laptop & I am already networked wirelessly to my dads Desktop PC. I want to be able to use the printer on my laptop. I know that you can. I just have no idea how to go about it. Does anybody have any input or advice on how to do this?

    go to your dad’s PC.

go to start > run > type cmd

    type ipconfig
    write down the IP address.
click control panel > printers & faxes
    right click the printer
    click properties
    click the sharing tab
check share this printer and type the share name
    go to your laptop.
go to control panel > printers & faxes
    Click add new printer
    check network printer
    check connect to this printer
type \\(the ip address)\(the share name)
    example:
